Our Mission

Michigan Migrant Legal Assistance Project, Inc, known as Migrant Legal Aid, provides quality legal services to indigent migrant and seasonal farm workers and their families, regardless of immigration status. We recognize the unique barrier of seasonal travel and residency, poverty, limited education and a primary language other than English that limit access to justice. We fulfill our Mission, to protect the rights of Michigan’s low income farm workers and their families, by developing priorities and continually assessing the needs of our clients.  

Migrant Farmworkers and Their Families

Migrant families are the true backbone of our agricultural industry. Without their hard work and effort, such things that we often take for granted, such as Sunday dinner, backyard barbeques in the Summer, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, or even just a simple side-salad, would not be possible.
